Xialanxue, Harroalive and Plagiarism
Was bored, went to search for fun. This looks like the site: http://harroalive.blogspot.com/. Hmmm.... Seems like they not only plagiarize from Xialanxue, they also plagiarise from other people, like Mr Wang! Well, those silly people went and slipped up when copying from XLX's site, and actually copied the disclaimer o.O. In the same colour too.
So am I going to retract my previous post? Obviously not. Perhaps at the point of time when XLX visited Harroalive's site, all the posts on that site were taken from her blog, and that is why she neglected to mention plagiarism from other blogs. But I still stand by my point of view that the posts taken from her blog were mainly quotes. Or videos. Other than the Technorati search list posts, I guess. But is such a post that original an idea? I'm sure others have posted Technorati search results on their sites. Oh Lookie. Xiaxue has at least 1 post as such. And with that red disclaimer standing out brightly, 1 screenshot with the URL of the site frosted over would do as evidence, without aiding in the promotion of that blog's publicity.
You take out 1 Coincidence from the equation and you still can get:
Coincidence + coincidence + coincidence = no coincidence after all?
No need to retract post lah.
Looking at the way Harroalive's blog is like, it is rather evident that they are the ones who are doing the plagiarizing. In all reality, as I look at that site, I actually feel like those 4 people (or rather 2, since 2 of the others don't actually seem to post anything) appear to be doing homework, and paraphrasing what is being said on other blogs. Hmm... Minimal paraphrasing I have to say. Mostly cut and paste. Bizarre site, really. Harro Alive appears to have plenty of blogs with no posts (reserving the names for later?), 1 blog with 1 post, and the blog where all the posts are not original. And he is the only one out of the 4 contributors whose profile you can access. And what I really cannot comprehend is why they would link up only posts taken from the same site. The post from Mr Wang's site, although about Wee Shu Min, has no direct links to the other Wee Shu Min posts. Did they intend for this to be a private site for the 4 of them to share interesting posts they stumble across on the internet?
And why, seriously, is XLX angry with her work being plagiarized here? Because of the theft of her ideas, which are mainly quotes? I don't see Mr Wang complaining. Maybe he doesn't know. Hmmmm... Perhaps it's the plagiarism of the disclaimer that XLX is really peeved about.....
