Greek Thought

I was struck by something my friend said today. According to him, Aristotle said that there are 3 kinds of friendships, one of pleasure, one of mutual utility and the last of goodness. In fact, only the third kind will last.

Of the third, I can only think of two people other than my mother whom I admire the goodness in their hearts , and interestingly enough, both are devout Christian.

One, whom I just met recently, has all the attributes of a devoted Christian girl. She wants to be involved in human rights programs, and is one of the rare few people here without a scholarship and not planning to do investment or banking or consulting. I admire the way she talks about helping other people without expecting anything in return, and am rather impressed with how devoted she is to God and tries to uphold his ways.

Of these two people, I have great admiration for, is this what my friend refers to as friendship built out of goodness? Where I have admiration for their virtues? I predict a happy marriage for both of them(other than getting bullied by their kids of course)
